Neighborhood Alert
Help us STOP potentially 300 apartment units from being built in the Isle of Catalina.
A proposed project called Gulfstream Apartments has filed with the City of Orlando to change the zoning of 2510 Gulfstream Rd. from R-1A (Single Family) to R-3A (Multi Family) to accommodate an affordable housing development. If the zoning change is approved, potentially 300 apartment units could be built on the 8.55 acre property.
The Isle of Catalina is a neighborhood of 365 single family homes, a potential 300 unit apartment complex inside of neighborhood is not an appropriate development.
Reasons Why the Zoning Change Should Be Rejected
Traffic Impact
On average a 300 unit apartment complex results in 1,800 vehicle trips per day.
Congestion & Noise
Almost doubling the households in the neighborhood with no additional road capacity will lead to a massive spike in traffic and noise.
Schools Already Burdened
Gulfstream Rd. is already traffic burdened with an elementary school and a middle school abutting the proposed apartment location.
Neighborhood Safety
The cohesive fabric of the neighborhood will be degraded as the streets will no longer be safe for walking or biking due to increased traffic load.
Wrong Place, Wrong Fit
A high density apartment complex has no business in the middle of an existing single family neighborhood.
Action Needed
We need as many people as possible to attend the public hearing and say: NO apartments in the Isle of Catalina!
